We live in the Midwest. Old Man Winter can be downright unforgiving. We get cold, we get wind, we get ice, and we get snow. I can appreciate the beauty of fresh fallen snow, and nothing quite beats the quiet as it blankets the Earth. However, nothing stinks more than to have grand plans for a big family vacation and have them get squashed by unrelenting weather. Hrumph!!
Earlier this year the “weather gurus” shouted from the mountain tops that this would be a cold, snowy winter. So far, though, we have been remarkably blessed. Temps have hovered above normal. We have had trace amounts of snow. I wonder if Old Man Winter has forgotten, in his old age, to stop by this year?? I am not complaining if that is the case.
I am, however, getting worried that as we get further into December without any big storm, the higher the chance is going to be for really crummy, nasty weather on December 17. The only frickin’ day this month that I NEED good weather. That is our departure date for warm, sunny Florida.
I have started praying for continued good weather, warmer-than-average temps, and thus, relatively no snow. The snow can come once we are safely in the air and Florida-bound. Not too much to ask, right?!?
So, as I scurry around my house to get all things Christmas and vacation-related done, I am hoping beyond hope for some really good weather. If you should be so inclined to join me, that would be fantastic. And I have 3 little boys who will be grateful, too.
